Environment conservation has long been a prominent issue globally. And until now, it continues to gain importance as the earth we live in keeps on displaying serious signs of destruction as a result from greenhouse gases, pollution, global warming and alike. Indeed, climate change is one of the buzzing talks-of-the town and it is widely experienced in different parts of the globe.

Because of these scenarios, many environmentalists and advocates of nature preservation promote the use of renewable energy rather than the conventional energy sources existing today. Yes, it cannot be denied that it has already been the traditional power source ever since. And that it would be hard for humanity to leave it behind, not only because it is extensively used but also because there are other things to consider such as the price, availability and so much more. However, the fact also remains that non-renewable energy sources, like fossil fuel, oil and coal could not be created again. Aside from that, they entail harmful consequences to the atmosphere.

Shifting into renewable energy sources is the most feasible option that many energy professionals are looking at today. Not only do these sources of energy perform the same purposes as non-renewable ones, they can also be replenished over time, hence, decreasing people’s dependence on harmful non-renewable energy sources and reducing destructive effects from using them. Let’s take a look at the top reasons why we should shift into renewable energy.

Dangerous to the Environment

People have heard and experienced it – global warming is real. We know relying energy from fossil fuels and other non-renewable energy is harmful to the environment. We know it, but we have never fully understood the danger it presents to the environment. The reality is that the more we get used to using non-renewable energy sources, the harder it would be for us to stop. Thus, we should think about what we can pass on to the next generation – a better world or a worse place to live in.

Depletion is Certain

Sooner or later, non-renewable energy sources will be depleted and exhausted. When that time comes, supply will come short, making it more expensive and limited to the public users. Infrastructures and their transactions will be hampered, vehicle owners will be burdened and the everyday lifestyle of the people will be affected. When this happens, shifting into renewable energy could not be made possible in an overnight. It takes time, joint efforts and support from various sectors to be able to gradually shift people’s dependence from non-renewable energy to renewable ones. And the best time to start is – now.

Cheaper in the Long-Run

There’s no denying the fact that electricity bill eats up substantial percentage in a household’s monthly expenses. With this, shifting to renewable energy is a great option to spare yourself from spending huge amounts for electricity. Although renewable energy sources are expensive to install, they prove to be a more affordable option in the long run.

Provide Economic Benefits

The non-renewable energy industry requires more capital and mechanical counterparts while the renewable energy industry requires more labor. This means to say that when people shift to more usage of renewable energy, more opportunities for employment will be provided to facilitate all the necessary works to do. Not only that. With employment generation, a ripple effect to the economy will also happen from related local businesses to unrelated businesses and even to households.

The Challenge

Indeed, renewable energy offers benefits to humanity and viable reasons for people to shift into depending on it rather than on non-renewable energy. The challenge lies in the action that we will take in response to the knowledge that we have. Perhaps, it may take long. But with each step, we will be getting closer to our goal of having a better world to live in.
