8th Photovoltaic Power Generation Expo 2015

PV Expo is an annual trade show, fair and exhibition that displays the latest advancements in the world of smart energy, photovoltaic energy, electrical engineering and other areas of energy. This year, the PV Expo was held in Tokyo Big Sight, Japan last February 25-27, which represents the 8th time this event was celebrated.

With the increasing demand for installation of photovoltaic systems and the booming reputation of solar energy in Japan, PV Expo 2015 portrays the largest B-to-B exhibition of solar cell technologies, materials, components, devices and solar modules. The exhibition is one of the best avenues to showcase the recent products and technologies that Japan and the rest of the world have to offer.

The Participants and Visitors

The higher number of participants and visitors that attended the PV Expo 2015 showed that, indeed, the solar market condition has improved and competition has tightened. In fact, as early as August 2014, all the exhibition spaces were already sold out. Also, the exhibit booths became bigger as compared to last year’s sizes. It was expected that there would be 500 exhibitors and 80, 000 visitors to grace the event.

Japan’s major participating firms include Sharp, Solar Frontier and Kyocera. Other exhibitors from all across the globe were Solarworld, Canadian Solar, Hanergy, Yingli Green Energy, Jinko Solar, Trina Solar, JA Solar, Renesolar, Hanwa Q Cells and many more. Representing the sector of materials and components were Nippon Electric Glass, Tokyo Ohka Kogyo and Du Pont. For exhibits relating to major manufacturing technology, participants included Asahi Diamond Industrial, Noritake and other firms. Furthermore, participating exhibitors from the evaluation, testing and analysis firms consisted of Wacom Electric, Eko Instrument and Mediotec. Aside from the partakers mentioned, there were still a lot of companies that joined in and showcased their newly discovered technologies, including those from Asian countries – China, Taiwan and Korea.

The visitors of PV Expo 2015 were solar cell and solar module manufacturers; photovoltaic system integrators and installers; solar cell users; trading agents; house and plant construction companies; universities and national institutes; and as well as government and public officers.

The Activities

In the first day of the PV Expo 2015, reception parties were held to allow the exhibitors, visitors, speakers and other attendees to mingle with each other and share their ideas. This would enable them to establish and build connections with energy professionals from all over the world. Alongside the exhibit of technologies, technical conference sessions were also conducted to refresh the participants’ knowledge regarding recent industry trends.

The Upcoming Results

With this huge gathering of energy professionals, it is expected that more improvements and developments will be seen in the next years when it comes to solar technologies. The wide array of exhibited solar knowledge, in the form of products, would add value to further innovations using solar energy. Through the PV Expo 2015, the exhibitors and other attendees were also given the chance to find new business opportunities and suggestions for future success.
